As day hiking is allowed under the current Covid 19 restrictions, we decided to do a circular route at Giants Castle to an area that not many people visit.  This is probably because it is some way from the escarpment but for us, it was a chance to visit the mountains again and enjoy the colours of Winter.  It was a perfect day and the vivid hues of the golden landscape against the startling blue of the skies and some beautiful clouds were a photographers dream.  We had hoped to see the ruins of Meander Hut, but never came across it, but we did walk to the Pine Field Rangers Outpost which is still being used, and then returned  to camp along a high ridge. We had amazing views of the entire range from here.  A beautiful day out and we just wished we could have stayed longer!
