Kevin went off for his last day at work and Kirsty and I did a walk along the ‘High Line’. But first, a strong coffee for Kirsty which is the usual way to kickstart her day. The High Line is a public park that has been built on an historic and unused freight rail line which is elevated above the streets on Manhattans West Side. It stretches about 2.5kms in length and very enjoyable to experience. Most of the locals use this to jog/walk/cycle in the mornings and during the day and its quite unique to experience the city in this way.  The gardens are beautifully maintained and there are many cool and shady spots to rest and escape the buzz of the city streets below.  From here it was  brunch at ’Jack and his Wife Freda’  - Owned by an ex South African.  Bloody Mary for Kirsty and a  ‘Mimosa’ ( champers and fresh orange juice) for me along with scrumptious poached eggs, pesto, mediterranean sauce and Haloumi.  Well …...I was on holiday!  Then it was a haircut for Kirsty, then  home and time to pack for the start of our adventure that would start the next day - Yosemite, Grand Sequoia National Park and then the Grand Canyon.

( By the way the rat in the one photograph means that it is dangerous to enter the building while it is being renovated, and not that rats are being exterminated as I first thought!)
