The weather was not the best on this hike but we managed to enjoy it none the less. A group of five, Richard, myself, Irene, Mark and Thora set out from the Mnweni Cultural Centre and we ascended Rockeries Pass on the first day.  The upper part of the pass was completed in cold and misty conditions with drizzle setting in as we settled into our tents.  We had several downpours during the night and awoke to very wet conditions.  We hiked north to the Hanging Valleys which were enshrouded with mist and were afforded for a brief moment, a tantalising glimpse of the turrets and towers in the cutback before the greyness descended again. We spent a rather wet night with the mist creeping into everything somehow and were disappointed to wake up to the same conditions the following morning.  We will need to revisit this special place! The day was spent walking along the escarpment edge as the mist came and went.  Mponjwane Cave was our next overnight stop and as the day came to a close, so the clouds and mist lifted and we had epic views of mighty Mponjwane peak and the Rockeries towers. We returned via Rockeries Pass and managed to catch a lift back to the Cultural Centre with local transport that was quite an adventure in itself!
